Painting course April - June 2025

Time: Wednesdays 16:30-18:30

In this course, we will mainly be using acrylic paints. The focus will be on learning how to compose an image, how to apply color theory in an image, and how to use different painting techniques.
As you go through the course, you will get familiar with the stages of painting – from the first sketch to the finished piece.

The course will cover the following topics on a basic level: 

Colors
Students will learn about the three primary colors, complementary and adjacent colors, color brightness and purity, building up color layers, the relationship between warm and cool colors, and how to express light and shadow in your paintings.

Composition
Students will learn about the elements of a good composition and how to apply them to their paintings. They will also learn about the rule of thirds, balance, and focal points.

Subject Matters
The course will cover a variety of subject matters including animals, portraits, still life, landscapes, and abstract. which will help you understand how to compose a painting, use color, and apply different techniques.

The course content and our progress will be adjusted to the level of each student and the students specific wishes, students will receive feedback and encouragement on their work from the instructor. We focus on what you can learn and how you can express your creativity. You may join this course again and proceed learning more, as practices can be adapted to your level.

Level: Suitable for everyone who has a basic or no previous experience in paintingand/or drawing and sketching.

Materials: We use various instruments, tools and materials like drawing boards, easels, sketching paper, acrylic paper, pencils, charcoal, acrylic colors, brushes, apron, and palette knives.
All materials needed will be supplied by Studio.8.

At the end of the season, all students are invited to join our Students Exhibition in our Studio.8 Gallery, and students may select own art works for the exhibition.
